Overview

The aquarium was designed as the focal point for the entrance and waiting area of the building. The display is viewable from four sides

Aquarium Structure

The aquarium structure is 8’ x 3, x 4’. Built into the center of the structure of the aquarium is a surface skimmer. The return and drain lines are contained within the surface skimmer and are hidden from view. Within the aquarium is a custom fabricated “insert” that resembles a coral reef.

Lighting System

The lighting system consists of two VHO ballasts attached to four 6’ bulbs (actinic white and super actinic) mounted above the aquarium.

Life Support System

The filtration system or life support system (LSS) will provide for the filtration and circulation of water within the aquarium system. Water can be drawn from the tank via the surface skimmer. The filtration system is then comprised of a biotower set within a sump. The sump also contains the protein skimmer and heaters, also to be hidden from view. The water is then returned to the aquarium.
